GETTING TO ESPOSENDE
Getting here isn’t difficult. The easiest way is by airplane, flying to Porto (OPO). The Porto international airport is only about 30 minutes away from Esposende, and we operate shuttle buses every Saturday to pick you up and ensure you a smooth arrival. The airport is serviced by most of the major European airlines, including low cost carriers such as Ryanair or EasyJet. It has direct connections to many of the biggest airports in Europe and getting here normally only takes a few hours. The easiest way to find a good ticket is via skyscanner.com, kayak.com or Momondo.com. If you decide to fly to Lisbon, there are some good options available for getting to us from there. There is a very nice express bus leaving from the train station Oriente in Lisbon. The station is easy to reach from the airport and the bus will take you all the way to us here in Esposende in a fast, comfortable and cheap way. The cost is 20 to 25€ and the travel time is about 4:30 hours. The buses have electricity and on board. Timetable, prices and more info here. This is a very good alternative to the trains, as the bus goes all the way to Esposende. If you can’t make it on the bus, you can always take a train. Just make sure to get off in Porto-Campanhã train station. Journey is around 3 hours and prices start from 11€ up to 35€ depending on the frequentation. You can find and prebook your tickets on www.cp.pt.

ROOMS & BEDS
When you arrive to our camp and check in, you will have a newly made bed waiting for you. We supply bed sheets and linen, and if you don’t want to carry bath towels, we can help you out with that as well. Don’t worry, just relax, it’s vacation time! We have dorm rooms with bunk beds for 2 to 6 people, as well as private single and double rooms with a double bed or two separate beds. This way, you can choose to stay with new or old friends or choose a room just for yourself or share it with your friend or partner.
WIFI & ELECTRICITY
The accommodations have a WiFi connection, but we suggest you to turn off your phone and computer during your vacation! There are plenty of power outlets for you to charge your electronic equipment. Portugal has the normal European power outlets with 220/230 volts.
We serve breakfast every morning at the Sports Hostel, from 08:30am to 10:30am. No menu as the breakfast is served as a buffet but you will find several types of breads, pastries, fruits, ham, fresh cheese, greek yogurt, muesli, granola, eggs, milk, fresh juices, tea and coffee.

THE SUMMER SEASON
In Portugal you can kite and surf all year round, but the best months are usually from April to October. This is when our Activity Center is open. In the spring and fall the waves are usually bigger, but even if the swell is smaller in the summer, we still get days with great winds and waves for kitesurfing and surfing.
The weather during the summer months is stable with mostly sun and a nice 20 to 30°C. Thanks to the wind, it never really gets too hot or humid, the temperature is very pleasant. Rain is not very common, and if it rains it is only during short periods.
WIND AND WATER
The summer is blessed with steady winds thanks to two things. The ocean holds a temperature of about 16 degrees offshore and 18-22 at the beach. In combination with the higher temperatures inland, a very nice thermic breeze is created. In addition to that, high pressures formed over the Azores and moving north over the Atlantic give us a steady northwest wind most days of the summer. The normal wind strength is between 15-25 knots (around 8-15 m/s).
Price wise, anything else than 5 stars would be a lie.Great service, before the camp and during. Help with getting to and from Porto airport and more. You can borrow SUP and surfboards each day.A nice mix of beginners and people already kitesurfing.Super happy with my experience!
Obrigado Kooks! It’s an Incredible place to experience kite boarding for the first time. Really great instructors, staff and hostel in an incredible local Portuguese town super close to Porto with great night life, restaurants, history, yoga, mountain biking, surfing, etc! Make a stop at Porto too to maximize the vacation!
I've been 2 weeks on Kook Proof kitesurfing camp. Just booked rider package without lessons. There is also of course an option for beginners kite package.I was one of my best camp experiences. The Kook Proof team is really great. Every instructor/member is very helpful and friendly. And organisation is fine tuned to the last details..Starting from picking up in Porto airport( I arrived late on Friday and they organized a special transfer for me).Tiago Rocha is one of the best instructors i met..very responsibly and puts a lot of stress on safety .As an intermediate minus rider i have a lot to learn from him and surely will book some of evaluation camp next year.If there is no wind( i was in September so we had 7 days wind ) you can go surfing, sap, mtb trips..I personally recommend mtb trip..Did it twice and had a lot of fun..Actually i can not find a single thing that was negative in this camp..You dont have to worry about anything, like checking wind, logistics, dinner etc..all is done for you.Spot in Essposende is really on of the best i kited..All in all very positive experience would rate it as 9.99 on 10 scale
