🌬️ About Wind & Scheduling

Kitesurfing requires wind — that’s just the nature of the sport. We use weather forecasts to schedule sessions on promising days. Your preferred date helps us plan, but the final confirmation comes 24-48 hours before, when we can accurately predict conditions. If you’re visiting Esposende for a fixed period, we recommend having 5-7 potential lesson days to maximize your chances of good wind.

Frequently Asked Questions About Beginner Kitesurfing Lessons

Most students reach independent riding (able to ride upwind and return to the starting point) within 5-10 lessons. Athletic learners with board sport experience often progress faster (3-5 lessons), while others may need 10-15 sessions. Our private 1:1 format and water-first training method accelerate this compared to group lessons. However, every student is different, and we focus on building skills properly rather than rushing through checkboxes.

Nothing! All equipment is provided and included in the lesson price: kites (both foil and inflatable), boards, harnesses, wetsuits, helmets, impact vests, and safety gear. Just bring swimwear, sunscreen, and a towel. We’ll help you understand what to buy if and when you’re ready to invest in your own equipment.

This is kitesurfing’s reality — we need wind to kite! We use weather forecasts to confirm sessions 24-48 hours in advance. If conditions aren’t suitable, we’ll reschedule to the next available day with good wind. That’s why we recommend having flexibility in your dates if you’re visiting for a fixed period. No lesson is ever “lost” — we simply move it to a better day.

Yes. In fact, kitesurfing requires coordination more than fitness. Many of our most successful students aren’t “athletes” — they’re analytical people who learn methodically. The private format, water-first approach, and understanding-based teaching actually works better for non-athletic learners. You should be able to swim 100m confidently, but you don’t need to be a marathon runner.

Absolutely not. We have students across all age ranges. Our safety-first methodology and patient progression actually suit older learners well — you’re more likely to follow the system rather than skip steps trying to look impressive. Many of our most successful students are in their 40s and 50s.

Water is safer than land for learning kite control. On land, mistakes mean getting dragged across the beach — not fun. In the water, you simply get pulled through the water, which is much more forgiving. We train kite control skills in the water first, then confirm them on land once you understand what you’re doing. This is both safer and faster.

Everything you need: kites (both foil and inflatable), boards, harness, wetsuit, helmet, impact vest, and all safety gear. Also included: rescue boat support throughout your lesson and radio headset coaching once you reach the riding stage. There are no hidden costs or equipment rental fees.

Packages are valid for the current season (April–September) and do not carry over to the following year. Plan your sessions accordingly. If you’re unsure how many lessons you’ll need, start with a smaller package and add more sessions as needed.
